Properties of the ingredients
Wild fish oil blend (mackerel, anchovy, sardine, tuna)
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA): an omega-3 fatty acid, is mainly concentrated in the brain and retina cells. It has been recognized as essential for infant/child brain development and retinal function. Studies of preterm infants have shown the importance of dietary DHA in learning. DHA has further been shown to play an important role in treating ADD/ADHD.
Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA): also belongs to the omega-3 family and is essential for the production of anti-inflammatory compounds. DHA and EPA are found primarily in cold water fish such as mackerel, sardines, anchovies.
Borage oil (Borago officinalis) (20% GLA): Omega-6 fatty acids, particularly dihomo-gamma linolenic acid (DGLA) and gamma linolenic acid (GLA), the precursor to DGLA, also play an important role in healthy brain function. Researches have shown a DGLA deficiency in children with hyperactivity. Valuable quantities of GLA are found in borage and evening primrose oil, with borage being the richest source, containing 20% GLA.
Certified Organic Flax seed oil, (Linum usitatissimum) Cold Pressed: Another omega-3 fatty acid, alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), is found in high quantities in flaxseed and flaxseed oil. ALA is the parent omega-3 and precursor to EPA and DHA. Experimental studies have shown that ALA supports learning and memory. ALA is metabolized into DHA, providing additional benefits to the brain.
Phosphatidyl choline (PC) is a key component of all cells membranes in the body. It serves as an important source of choline which is required for the synthesis of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter involved in cognitive functions. Studies have shown that phosphatidylcholine supplementation supports brain performance particularly with learning and memory.
Vitamin E (d-alpha-tocopherol) : Vitamin E is a valuable additive to any EFA oil, as it keep the oils fresh and protects the oils from oxidation.

It is recommended to start with 4 capsules in younger children and 6 capsules in teenagers. However, if your child does not show any improvements within the first month, it can indicate that your child requires more omegas than others. If so, it is recommended to increase the child dosage to 6 capsules a day. The change to the liquid version is also an option since the dosage is more concentrated.
Parents notice the beneficial effects as soon as the second week: the child is calmer; has a greater ease to complete homework and is less anxious in social situations and exams. Brain function, such as concentration and focus, also improves in the first month and leads to better school results within the second month. However, your child may not show improvements as quickly, some children require more omegas than others. If so, it is possible to increase to a dosage of 6 capsules.
If a more concentrated formula is needed, we recommend using the GENIUS liquid formula.
Children can take Genius year-round without a problem. It may be preferable to not interrupt in children who have anxiety, sleeping, skin or irritability issues.
For others, taking breaks during the summer is fine as long as supplementation is restarted with the start of the school year.
GENIUS is approved for a dosage of 4 to 6 capsules for children 4 years and older which means it is safe to increase the dosage to 6 capsules per day. Nevertheless, it is not necessary to increase the dosage simply if your child is growing. The increase in dosage is usually warranted when signs of deficiencies start appearing; which would mean the child’s body is now requiring more omegas then previously needed to function adequately.
At 6 months, children have a very sensitive digestive system and do not digest fats very well. At this stage, it’s best to give them foods that are high in omegas.
If you are breastfeeding, even better! You can take GENIUS MOM and BABY yourself, it’s a formula exclusively designed for this purpose, and the benefits of the formula will be transmitted through your breast milk.
